Components

Time to talk chemistry! We’re drawn to Pure Sandalwood because this oil contains components (you may have also heard them called “constituents”) that work together to affect our body in unique ways. Let’s break it down:

  • Family of Santalols

Sandalwood essential oil is composed primarily of a group of oxygenated sesquiterpenes known as santalols. These components have a long-lasting woody aroma that promotes feelings of calm and relaxation. We love that even adding a single drop of Pure Sandalwood will add a balancing earthy note to DIY blends!

Safety

If pregnant or nursing, consult your health professional before use. Avoid contact with eyes. For external use only. Keep out of reach of children. Discontinue use if irritation occurs.

Sandalwood's Backstory

Native to India, sandalwood is an evergreen tree that can grow up to 30 feet tall. Sandalwood oil is extracted from the chipped heartwood of this tree through a process of steam distillation. Unlike many other aromatic woods, it retains its fragrance for decades!

Sandalwood and its many benefits have been recorded for over 4,000 years, making it one of the world’s oldest-known materials. It was one of the very first items India traded (along with spices and silk). The sandalwood’s heartwood is considered sacred, and Hindu literature says that its rich fragrance reflects the scent of paradise. Ancient Egyptians used sandalwood in their embalming processes because of its preservative properties.

Today, sandalwood is used in a variety of fragrances and incenses because of its delicate woody aroma. Place a few drops of Pure Sandalwood directly into your palms and or any part of body and massage in.
